1) Play Corpse Connoisseur. Search out Avacyn and put her into your graveyard.
2) At a later date, play Defy Death and bring Avacyn back.
3) Profit! You've now got a 10/10 flying vigilance angel which makes all your permanents indestructible...and to get it, you only paid 5 mana in any one turn. Epic! :)

I get that you're trying to use Defy Death in a functional way, but you'd really just be better to use Reanimate or Animate Dead. The combo you've got isn't bad - but there are faster, more functional ways of doing this. Skim through our combo archives for Reanimate combos - we've got a lot of them.

That said, your username fucking rules. It's crazy rad. :D

Reanimating Avacyn any other way only gives you an 8/8 angel instead of a 10/10 angel. In addition, if you're using Corpse Connoisseur to get Avacyn into your graveyard, you already have 5 mana open, so the mana cost isn't too much of a problem. I think it's worth it for the +2/+2 buff.

And thanks about the name :) I've had it for over 10 years now :) .

:D

Like I'd said, you're talking about a difference of +2/+2 for five mana on an 8/8 beatstick that's nearly invincible, and makes all of your other creatures invincible.

That +2/+2 is a *lot* less important on a 8/8 flying indestructible creature - either one is likely going to have it's way with your opponent.

I'm not knocking whether or not the combo works - it does, so full points there - but my criticisms are always aimed with "are these the best cards to have in a deck, even if my combo doesn't go off" - and in any deck where there's already a splash of black, Buried Alive/Reanimate is easily the best means of getting the job done.

I am giving credit where it's due - this combo does what it's supposed to. But played directly against a faster deck doing the same thing, it's less likely to win, and as someone used (with some snark) before, no matter how much of a Johnny I am, I'm as much of a Spike, too - my eyes are firmly on the win. :D

animate dead isn't a great way to do it... what about stuff that removes enchantments from the game?

nice combo ice :)

Given that most 'disenchant' effects read 'destroy target enchantment', that's actually a very minor problem - what with Avacyn making all your permanents indestructible. Nearly anything that could successfully take out Animate Dead could take out Avacyn herself. :D

I like the combo.

Having said that, as we are talking about Avacyn, I wanted to mention that I was playing a Commander game yesterday and used Sensei Golden-Tail to give Avacyn bushido 1 just for the sake of the idea of having her discard her spear and wield a katana. It make my opponent and I chuckle at the idea.

Anyways.... Amercian decks are awesome. Werewolves are our friends (mostly mine). I'm going out for a pizza now. Later!

As many anime and manga as there are, chances are it IS one.
