Bad Ass is the new Fuse card, Beck//Call.

That's right, I'm making a combo of a spoiler that's only been live for twenty minutes. Fuck. Yeah. :D

This one is fairly simple, and takes advantage of the rulings regarding all split cards. The cost of Beck//Call isn't eight - it's two and six, both. So, you can pay two to imprint the card, and the copy you can make can be of either side - effectively allowing you to produce four birds per turn, reliably.

-edit- credit to Lin Sevvi for the rules exploit for split cards -/edit-

Please refer to http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Article.aspx?x=magic/faq/darksteel and to rules 708.xx

708.4. Although split cards have two castable halves, each split card is only one card. For example, a player who has drawn or discarded a split card has drawn or discarded one card, not two.

708.6x are also interesting... For calculation of cmc rules 202.3x apply.

TL/DR It works.

01.12.2004 To imprint a split card, you pay X equal to either side's converted mana cost. If the copied card is a split card, you choose which one side of it to cast, but you can't cast both sides. You can choose the other side later in the game, though.

Of course it works. :D

-edit- And Spider, next time? Just ask me directly, bro. I can explain it to you. -/edit-

My problem with this card is that unlike the other split cards, this has Fuse. Is there a ruling as to how that changes anything (if anything)?

There's actually two things that prevent the Panoptic Mirror from taking advantage of the new rule mechanism. The first is actually on the card itself - Fuse states clearly that you have the option of playing both sides if you've played it from your hand. That's not the case for a copy created by the Mirror.

The other is actually in the rules listed above - Fuse cards are still split cards, and as such, you have to choose which side to cast when the copy is created.

From the hand, good call. I should have read better, my apologies.

:D No biggie, dude. Asking questions is how we learn.
