With Izzet Guildmage, blaze for any Sorcery X-damage spell (or instant if playing blue) play+copy with X 4+. Fire Servant ramps up damage.

Fails on the premise, dudebro. When you copy an X-spell, X's value becomes the default 0. You don't get to pump mana into a copied X-spell.

Academic- sorry have to correct you. When you copy a spell it you also copy all choices that were made for it including the value of X.

However, that does not help this combo, while X is 0 in all areas other than the stack, when it is on the stack X becomes the value that was chosen for it. So if you chose 3 for X, at the point you can copy blaze its cmc is 4. out of range for the guildmage to copy.
Only way to make it work with the guildmage is X has to be 1, which is pointless, so instead use Fork or one of the equilvent

simply add fork then copy the fork :P
