What's about

Some suggestions to improve the combo. E. g. Fumiko makes their lands attack each turn, the Foliage does lethal damage to the attacking lands.
Or, play Scalding Salamander, next turn play Living Plane and attack with the Salamander...
The Ronin also gets nasty with deathtouch (http://www.mtgcombos.com/view.php?fid=2&tid=14608).

Could the opponent just tap out his lands for mana to avoid "attacking if able"?

The Scalding Salamander will get all their lands!-D

You're absolutely right, Pal, and since the rules have changed as to not cause mana burn, that'd be your best option playing against this combo.

Reaper - sub out the Bladetrap for the Izzet's Electrickery spell. For three fewer mana, you get an instant speed spell that's in your color scheme, and isn't contingent on their lands actually attacking. I actually get why you chose the Bladetrap instead of a lot of other options - that instant speed thing is crazy important, nearly as important as not bringing in unnecessary splashes of color into your deck. However, with Electrickery, you could activate the combo on your turn, also, and have the option of swarming your opponent to death (maybe with Overrun, or something of the like). :D

Posted electrickery and living plane already but since it's not in database you'd never know.
