I'm getting my reanimator page back on track with the idea to spare each iteration of the reanimator deck (one set at a time) against a deck comprised of cards entirely from its current set (basic lands added as needed).
In making an Alpha deck to fight the Alpha reanimator, I stumbled upon this little wonder. For just 3 cmc (4 if you count the casting of Will-o'-the-Wisp) a black deck can negate not just combat damage, but any damage sustained in a single turn.
I know there are more powerful things to do in Alpha, but for how ignored these cards are, I was very surprised.
EDIT: Yes, this is a fun thing to do with Isochron Scepter.

:D Nice synergy. This is just more evidence that the Alpha nerds didn't realize the sheer broken potential some of their cards had.
