The new expansion seems worth buying.

To keep it Standard, a really good card with him is Seek the Horizon, essentially turns 3G into a 9 Damage Burn Spell. I can see people making a Standard deck with him using a couple of those, 4 Gatecreeper Vines (the key are cards that send lands to hand, not play), a couple of Axebane Guardians for ramp with the Vines, and probably a bunch of other land fetching that Gatecrash will provide.

I definitely noticed his special ability in the first spoilers. There are definitely faster ways to take advantage of it, but like Captain had said, there were more than a few Standard cards which compliment - and most of them have the added advantage of thinning the mana out of your deck, too.
I'm waiting to see what this set's broken card is going to be, though. :D
