have incandescent out, and exemplar in hand, use incandescents ability, drop the exemplar, and champion the incandescent, so the exemplar stays on the field

No, you'd still have to sacrifice it. The sacrificing ability isn't determined by the Soulstroke still being on the field.

Just use Sundial of the Infinite during your postcombat main phase and keep Supreme Exemplar.
