Swallowing the key to the Helvault

';document.links[i].onMouseOver='ShowCard("CardA",1)'; documentlinks[i].onMouseOut='ShowCard("CardA",0)';};};">Have the Helvault out.  Use the Helvault to exile creatures from the battlefield till you're satisfied with the board position.  You can use cards like Grand Architect and Platinum Myr to accelerate this.  Once your position is good, cast March of the Machines.  Now you can use the Helvault to exile itself as part of its first ability.  Because returning the exiled creatures is part of an ability that needs you to put it into the graveyard, they are gone for good.


It's not perfect because the 'vault is vulnerable to removal while tapped so it wouldn't be a bad idea to run it with Voltaic Key, but it's not bad synergy for EDH.

How might this be impacted with the new 'return cards from exile' mechanic that's popping up in AVR?

There's only one card like that which has to do with creatures:

Misthollow Griffin 2uu

Flying

You may cast Misthollow Griffin from exile
