Dumb ass is the Flayer of the Hatebound. Sac the Flayers to the Thermopod, Pay off the Ion Storm, and free up one of your Flayers. Sacrifice the both of them, pay off Ion storm, and sacrifice the last Flayer. 18 damage in one go.

That is assuming absolute worst case outcome - by the point you can pay off Flayer's cost, you should be able to afford to just pay out enough land-based mana to keep sacrificing for further damage. I was trying to think of a mono-red way of reducing the cost of Ion Storm's ability, but I can't think of one for cheap.
