But I feel it is time to break the silence. We are all on this website for one thing; a love for MTG. We might all disagree about a lot of things, but that is what makes us who we are. Personally, I don't like My Little Pony, Final Fantasy or Rainbow Colored Jello Molds, but that doesn't stop me from interacting with you people who do on a mildly regular basis. There is talk of adding Moderators; this to me sounds silly, add someone to the mix who will "control" what we say? That sounds more like a hostile government than a forum about Magic combos. That being said, why don't we moderate ourselves? The best person to control our thoughts is ourselves. I may be adding to the craziness of and the pettiness of this squabble but what makes us "friends" is out ability to interact like humans. I might disagree with a combo or how someone feels, I'm sure I've even got pissed about it, but oh well. It is a website with people you don't know whom you have no idea of where they live, so what? I may disagree with you all on stuff, but I respect the opinions you have, I just wish the ones fighting would get over this little squabble and realize that this is the internet. Honestly if you just let it be Knarf will probably let it go, but then you can't say, "Oh yes we won!". Because all that will do is incite him to start up again. I don't think any of you are truly bad folks, just people who need to deal with stuff better. This might put me right in front of the firing squad but, grow a pair and deal with it. Thank you.

I just wanted to see how long this would last. Oh no Mister Jester of death, I am not all three. I am but one Lone Nickosis in this messed up world. But thank you for the offer me that kind of mad Power. Speaking of which, have you seen a movie called The Ward? If I were all three then this movie would explain it all, but alas, I am but one.

The problem here are the people/group of people who abuses their freedom of speech...

their just don't realize that the so called "freedom of speech" ends when other people's rights begin...

That's probably why we need moderators now... Moderators are like law enforcers... we need them because of the people who abuses power... without law enforcers, this site will be chaos...

So this is a bit of a joke. :D

On one hand, you're arguing against oppressive control. In the other, you're saying 'give Knarf what he wants' - which is oppressive control. I'm not even kidding. He's laid out a manifesto, where he swore if everyone didn't behave the way he wanted, which included, but was not limited to controlling when and where discussion can occur on this forum, why they can occur, and what sort of language is to be used when talking about things - and he swore that if he didn't get exactly what he wants from every user, he'd do everything he could to destroy this forum.

You're kind of rooting for what you hate, skip. Directly. A self-imposed mod limiting discussion and generally being a shitty guy.

No, I am not going to 'let it be'. Knarf is quite literally killing our forum, and I actually have proof of that. Before the drama, Knarf was alienating new users, insulting old users (always through backhanded compliments, which are cowardly as hell), and this forum was dead. One new user every three weeks or so, maybe two or three new threads... and that's it. No one wanted to post here.

And then I changed things, and confronted one of the new users. I didn't use backhanded compliments - I targetted that guy directly, and made it clear that he needed to raise his standards.

And his response was to get upset, and prove me wrong. Which is what I was going for.

And then, he did it. It was fucking awesome.

And then Knarf started a thread about the fight two days later, and he pretended the thread he made long after the fight had won the day. The thing is, his idiot action nearly reignited everything. So I told him where to stick it. In the two days where me and the new user (Chewy, to be specific) feuded, we'd ended up quadrupling this site's regular weekly views, and almost a dozen new users crawled out of the woodwork - some even chose to stick around. I put Knarf in his place, then the forum started putting Knarf in his place, too - at that time, Knarf disappeared for four days.

For those four days, this forum was alive. Both new users and old were flooding the forum with new, original combos. People were freely exchanging ideas, making new threads, and things were growing. This place was everything we've ever hoped it would be.

And then Knarf came back, and tried to impose his ways again. He flooded every thread, treated new and old users like shit, and stalked me though literally every thread I've posted in.

So, I had an idea. I had some school-related stuff I needed to spend some time on, so I disappeared for three days, to see if the forum would be better for it (just like it got better when Knarf left). Just to see if the little creep was right.

As I type this, there are threads on the front page that were there when I'd left. There is little-to-no discussion about anything going on. There has been one new user registered - he's contributed nothing. The result is very few new combos.

This forum is worse under Knarf's vision. This is the forum Knarf wants - a boring, lifeless place no one feels safe discussing in.

No, skip. I like this forum too much to surrender to an oppressive controlling creep. And if you like this forum, you need to grow a pair, and stand up to your oppressor, not the people fighting to make this place better.

@Nickosis - Let me explain why we need Moderators or any forum for that matter... You see, most of us, given an opportunity to abuse his freedom of speech with no possible consequences, they will take it... I'm not saying everyone will abuse it but most of us will... so even if we are all good here, sooner or later someone will come and abuse that freedom... which already happened... so that's why we need a moderator or two... to moderate... to balance the power... so that whomever abuses that freedom that was given to him, won't get away with it and will pay...

And also every forum have rules, so that this kind of thing will not happen... if everyone follow the rules then we are all good but that's assuming everyone follows it... but in reality, some will not and that's when we need moderators... also if there were moderators here right now... i wonder, who would get banned from this site? anyone answer that... i need an answer to that question, that's what i'm saying...

Not to mention the vast amounts of false accounts/people who are intentionally trolling...or hell even completely fabricated arguments staged between two people that may or may not be real...But I will say this place has been a bit of a fun digital playground...the fact that I was able to find people to help me keep the "Dying Jester", The "Metal Overlord", and "The Guillotine" personas going has been a very rewarding experience...not to mention introduced me to games outside of just the monotony of constructed mtg play...

So what I'm saying is...

I'm glad I've been allowed to exist for this time frame...

Really gives this old jester a reason to smile (besides the blood of the innocent and those people who die in completely hilarious ways...thank the Gods for a 1000 ways to die)...

Okay I realize that there is a hatred for Knarf, but we all knew kids like him in grade school. That kid who begs for attention through annoying actions. So honestly all that has been done is fuel his need for attention. I guess I'm to blame as well, but hell, what is someone to do eh?

Moderators wouldn't be a terrible idea, you just don't want people going around and telling everyone else they need to relax. Other than updates for new sets, just have a Peer to Peer chat/message option where we can inform new guys/gals of Knarfs' knarfing.

A place for honest debate isn't a bad thing, but silencing others is. Knarf was attempting to silence others, but us silencing him does no good either. Just let him be an ass and he'll be happy. If new folks understand that he is a douche then all will be good. Just let him try and pony up support, I'm sure most of would back down. I don't think he should be silenced, who then would be down talk? Just let it be, because all will be well. I never really had a problem with Knarf, he is just one of those people.

I hope you'll be okay with my boring attempt at calming things down.

Synical, if all you could parse out was 'childish banter', then you're only semi-literate. Just because Knarf was spewing white noise doesn't mean I don't hold myself to standards - including a certain level of depth and reflection in my critiques.

It's great that you don't care about things, but unfortunately, not caring about things doesn't amount to a whole lot.

It's more what you didn't do that's the problem, here - you typed the words without actually knowing anything about what you're talking about. And by typing the words, after days of quiet, you're bringing the conflict back into the forefront, instead of just letting it be resolved.

It's a stupid move. I'm glad you're knocking it off, but it's also important to understand why you should be knocking it off.

Well considering Disney now owns Star Wars, gay Sephiroth Clones might be in some new games. Not like they have to do anything hard, they've already got the story ready. Clones created in a chamber made to order? I mean that doesn't sound too hard to do.

I could care less about Sephiroth's sexual orientation, Luke Skywalker wouldn't stand a chance against one of him, let alone an army of S clones.

I will go out and buy a PSP since they are usually released there (possibly a PS4 if needed) when they make a kingdom hearts that allows you to team up with Vincent Valentine, (Beauty's) Beast, and Wolverine. One of them should help you fight Darth Maul. We all know disney has the licenses to do it.

That might take longer than you'd think. :D

The Disney is actually really smart in how they handle acquisitions - they leave the companies they buy largely the fuck alone. :D

And they tell them to act like they're still separate brands. Disney is still 'separate' from Pixar, which is separate from Marvel, which is separate from Lucasarts. They compete against one-another, and when deals are made, it's usually Disney/Brand X, as opposed to, say, Marvel/Pixar, or Lucasarts/Marvel.

That said - there are legitimately talks in the works for the inclusion of Leia into the coveted 'Disney Princess' line. If that happens, you can almost guarantee a Star Wars level in the next iteration of the series.

....What I want is Star Wars themed Gummy battles, though. :D
