Imma let you finish, but The Dark Knight was the best thing to come out of Batman.

(To tell the truth, it was probably because of Heath Ledger)

Christian Bale is just a prick. Terminator movies were fine without him. Batman certainly kicked more ass without him. Shit, do you guys remember the 90's cartoon series?! Yeah, Krav Maga kicks the shit out of any other martial art out there, but damn...Christian Bale...idiots...

Yes. Comic book publishers are pimps pushing whores, and nothing less. They don't care if a whore is overused. They will keep sending out their old whores.

Krav Maga is intense [and lets just through MMA out the window right now because that's like saying your mutt (mostly a pitbull) is the same as my mutt (a cockerspaniel)] but I feel like Judo really wins out. Capoeira still puts me on edge because of its unothrodox nature, but from what I've seen and studied (extensive Tae Kwon Do, Shotokhan style Karate and Judo) Judo mops the floor as a defensive art.

I do however salute a self defense that addresses how to take down someone with an automatic rifle as well as a person with a grenade (talking about Krav Maga).

I studied Shotokhan Karate for 6 years and in that time I learned ZERO ways to deal with people that weren't touching me. Seems pretty out-dated and impractical.

You should have stuck with it and learned the hadoken.

As for a more-serious-non-nerd-response: most people do a strategic retreat at that point. Even in Krav Maga, you need the shooter and person with the grenade to be close enough for you to do something in the way of disarming.

Or did you mean that they were not holding a projectile? If they aren't trying to attack you... don't fight them.

Yeah - if the other person is at the sort of range where they can safely draw and discharge their firearm, then your goal shouldn't be to close the distance - your goal should be to retreat, taking cover whenever safely possible.

And I wouldn't knock the shotokan variation - it's a very strong, very practical means of combat. It manages to take it's greatest weakness - it's very, very linear - and turn it into a strength, by often forcing your opponent to also fight in a linear fashion.

I'm not going to pretend that a solid grapple art beats your striking/throwing art 9/10, but most people have little-to-no real training.

It is true that my sensei tried very hard to drill into my head that staying away from conflict is the best defense. I was just throwing that out there to see if anyone could prove me wrong (about dealing with firearms) with more experience than I have in the art.

The best way to deal with firearms is to wear a bulletproof vest.

Using a gun to deflect bullets, contrary to the NRA's belief, is not a very effective strategy.

Not an effective strategy? Was I the only one to see Wanted? You know, that movie based on a comic that it had nothing to do with and they curved bullets and used bullets to deflect bullets while curving their trajectories?
