It kind of has. It's still a derogatory term for a prostitute's handler, but in the 2000's, it kind of turned into slang for 'ostentatious but cool'. Then it was overused. A lot. Eventually, people got sick of how much it was used, and around that point, it became something along the lines of 'poseur pretending to be masterful'. That was around the birth place of 'pimp away' - it's a derivative of the negative version of pimp, and 'limp away', like what someone does after a fight.

Basically, to 'pimp away' is to try and walk away from a moment where you just got schooled pretty hard, while pretending that you were never beaten as badly as you were. 

So, anyways... :D

Pimp still has it's classic meaning, but it's also gained negative connotation. 

Total tangent, but here's a fun fact - appearently, most prostitues don't have pimps anymore. Those that do are not much better than slaves - those who don't have empowered themselves to be in control of the situation, and are effectively their own 'pimps'. It's weird what a little bit of control can do for someone, right? :D
