This card is going to get very expensive very quickly.

...damn...was I that obvious? NO! I refuse to believe anybody could have guessed that I put stasis in a STASIS deck! You sir are a demigod and any lesser explanation will be thrown out the window...

Red Deck Wins and BR Aggro both get knocked down a notch.

Need that landlock, else Statis cand just be Disenchanted or Naturalized or boomeranged or Red-Elemental-Blasted (yea black sucks for enchantment and artifact removal...).

Hence I'll stick with my Kismet/Frozen Aether.

Looks good for constructed though.

Speaking of blue power, Aetherize looks amazing.

Aetherize does look amazing. Too bad Gideon Jura isn't in Standard any longer. Curse of the Nightly Hunt will have to do.

Also, Blind Obedience completely wrecks Spark Trooper aka Ball Lightning Helix.

seems a bit slow to me. but still an uphill battle that costs 1 less and works for artifacts

It'd be funny to see someone play it in a flicker deck and bounce sunblast angel. Could see it happening

I don't see this getting played that often. It only affects Creatures and artifacts. That might slow down infinite combos, but not enough to really make any impact in it's cost.

Now the real question is, is it good enough to play in commander?

"I don't think it will that useful, it only affects the all creatures and artifacts, which are the most common form of permanent, shy of lands"

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? No. Sit down. :D

Yes, it is also a nice, quick and easy way to shut down infinite combos. Thank you for pointing that out, too.

Blind Obedience = Less initially functional Kismet. The extort ability is cool though. Taxation...just like Orzhov is known for. Let's see a better Agent of Masks. The guildmage needs to be better this time too. I don't want to just gain 1 life for 2W. I want every other player lose that 1 life and me gain the total life lost for 2B.

Blind = a standard-legal Kismet, which costs one less mana, that can generate you life, giving you a 2-point vamp damage advantage each time it's activated.

In fact, the fact that lands aren't included is actually a boon, here - that way, you have more chances of playing Extort.

My problem with extort is that there isn't much mana acceleration for either color anymore, making it more difficult to play for mulitple permanents that have the ability, unlike if it cost green, or even red nowadays. Without Dark Ritual, I am just not impressed with the ability, but then, black is currently too overpowered for DR.

Yeah, I've got the same semi-disappointed feeling about Cipher. It's great on paper, but then you try to play it, and it's all bulky, expensive spells - and there aren't many unblock able creatures.

Whatevs. I just want to know what the dragon guild is going to offer next set. :D

Corrections. Kismet costs 3W. So Blind is 2 cheaper. Kismet is probably the first instance of curses. Kismet will not mess with your stuff if you control it. So, Blind is faster to get into play. The fact that I'd have to be careful not to tap out when I cast a spell to activate extort is mildly irritating. Still holding out hope for that guildmage.

Okay, so it's significantly better. You have proven me right.

Good job!

There's a trade off. It costs 2 less, but you lose the land tap. Land tapping can be VERY irritating. Slows decks by a turn. Tapped critters and tinker toys isn't game changing. Tapping lands is game changing.

Do you even know which side you're on? :D

The lack of land tap is to your advantage (at least as far as this card's mechanics go). If the other player were tapped up, you couldn't extort. And not for nothing, but one of the first things I thought of was my old Congregate deck. I *want* my enemy to be able to produce creatures, I just also want to prevent them from surprise attacking me. And hey, more life.

Perhaps I'm missing something. Or just not seeing the card how you do. I see a card that says this: Extort: cast a spell, pay B/W. People lose life, you gain that much life.

Text:

Creatures and artifacts your opponent casts enter the battlefield tapped.

What am I missing here? I don't see why you would want people to make/cast creatures just as quickly as they could without land tap. Personally, I want my opponent/s turns to be 1 behind me at the very least. Don't get me wrong, I like the enchantment. It's irritating. Great in group games. I just don't see what you see there.

Lazav, Dimir Mastermind was so close to being the best staple in reanimation, if only it was not confined to the opponents' graveyard. I guess he can sit next to Progenitus and the ___steel colossus duo.

Consuming Aberration is a much more reliable/powerful miller (or 'grinder' as the case may be) unfortunately. It decked me out in the prerelease twice!

What do people think is the best guild promo?
