Title: The Jester Presents: A Combo Challenge

Academic's combo that makes the game a draw even though you are ahead, made me want to issue a combo challenge to the community.

The Challenge: Taking the casual out of casualty.

The Criteria: Cards without any use outside of casual gameplay. (I.E. Non-meta in any format)

The Goal: Each combo must force the game into a draw.

And that's my challenge...but I doubt anyone will bother...so yeah...

flame jab - shinka gatekeeper - rite of passage-pariah   = jab does 1 damage to gatekeeper, the gatekeeper does 1 to you, pariah redirects it back to gatekeeper, repeat.  rite keeps the gatekeeper alive and since every action is mandatory and can't be redirected outside the combo a loop is formed

another one

leyline of singularity - 2 of the same named persist creatures - melira = legend rule kills both creatures, persist brings them back, melira prevents the counters, legend rule kills both, repeat

Ok maybe I didn't hit all the criteria

:D You don't always need an infinite loop.

Marrow Bats, Repay In Kind, Flame Rift. "Regenerate" the Marrow Bats four times, cast Repay In Kind (bringing everyone down to four life), and cast Flame Rift. Each of the players hits zero at the same time.

-edit- Also, just to get the easy ones out of the way, I'm claiming 'Any infinite mana loop + Earthquake/Hurricane style combo'. :D -/edit-

Some sort of pinger (goblin fireslinger) + Heartless Hidetsugu + Furnace of Rath.

Get everyone at an even life total, play furnace, and Heartless will kill everyone with an even life total. Is this what we're doing? Just posting draw nonbos?

What we're doing here is having fun. You're kind of being a butt.

A butt! Such harsh words! I have no problem with just having fun, I'm just pointing out that a combo that could end in a win but that's twisted to end in a draw instead seems a little pointless. I can't imagine that I'm the only one who feels this way. I'm not maniacal about having to win every game, but I guess for me I'd personally rather have a winner and loser then just draw things into stalemates all the time. They're just not as satisfying as winning or at least attempting to win and then losing after a hearty and well-fought effort.

That was really long-winded, just to end so redundantly.

Yes, these are pointless ways of ending the game. Yes, they are for people who are no longer satisfied with traditional win/lose conditions. That was the point of my first post.

Kindly don't mock my choice of words. I'm a better wordsmith than you are, and I chose polite, if base language.

I've got no problem with polite language, in fact, I encourage it. I've never been one for vulgarities. As for my diction though, I'm not even getting into that. I don't think my ability to choose words should be judged based on posts on a magic forum (let alone those made at 3:00 in the morning, I really should get back to work...)

@ The Captain:The point of this challenge was to make draw...nonbos?(I'm just going to assume you're thinking of Michael Nonbo...you know...the former danish football player? Kudos for using Heartless Hidetsugu though...not many people ever use him, like ever...at all...

And yes...while forcing the game into a draw may aggravate many, I can honestly say I'd rather a fun draw than a boring old onesided victory.

Also Michael Nonbo had quite a career... 355 games and scored 14 goals in the Danish Superliga from 1991 to 2006, representing Næstved IF, AGF, Viborg FF, and SønderjyskE. He played 16 games and scored three goals for the Denmark national under-21 football team from November 1993 to October 1995.

Nonbos are a term that I had heard that are things that look like combos, but really aren't. Hence, Non-bos. I didn't make it up, I saw it on some dailyMTG article. I thought it was a well known phrase, perhaps it isn't.

Faceless Butcher, Faceless Butcher, and Faceless Butcher. First targets the second, second targets the first, third targets the second - which releases the first, who targets the third, which frees the second, which targets the first, which frees the third, which targets the second, ect, ect, ect.

As much fun as a 'both players life totals are zero' draw is, I still prefer the infinite. :D
