Title: looking ahead to ravnica revisited

Are the nephilim going to get expanded or reinterpreted? Because, while it's entirely possible I missed some critical information along the line, they seem out of place in Ravnica.

I was thinking how cool it would be if they introduced the first 4 color legendary creatures, and I imagine they might be similar to the nephilim.

I want to see what blue is going to have to offer. Seeing Jace front and center is hella encouraging - that says there's at least going to be a few fun draw cards and counterspells.

I too think that they will re-interpret the Nephilim as legendary creatures, which I think many EDH/Commander players have been asking for.

I'm wondering how many cards will be reprinted from the original RGD block. If the guilds are gone, then many cards, like the signets and the bouncelands, are out of flavour. I wonder if they'll do something like Scars of Mirrodin, where they reprint only a very small number of cards from the original block, but produce a bunch of new cards that are inspired by old RGD cards.

After all, Scars only had 10 cards reprinted from the original Mirrodin block, yet they were still able to work in lots of callbacks, like Blightsteel Colossus, Inkmoth Nexus, the 3 new Swords, Ascetism & Thrun, and many others.

Hmm. Niv-Mizzet vs. Nicol Bolas in RU(B) dragon planeswalkers. Or if there was a nephilim planeswalker, it would be only the second nonhumanoid after Bolas.

Of the known original guild leaders Szadek, Niv Mizzet, Svogther, radkos, and razia were the only  ones alive at the start of the ravinca story don't know what happened to the others.  Though you are likely thinking about the guild leaders during the block... 

Razia killed by Szadek

Szadek killed in prison, came back as a spirt in the ghost quarter, where he may or may not still exist (ghost quarter was created since spirts couldn't leave due to time rifts on dominara, which should have gotten repaired with the mending)

Savra-killed by Szadek

Svogther-killed by argus kos

Niv-mizzet -disappeared after his fight with the nelphim-leading some to think he might be a planeswalker

tesya - lived through the books but most likly dead due to the hundred plus years that should have passed, though they did have magic to extend their life so who knows

ghost council- dont recall what might have happened to them

momir vig - killed by argus kos

grand arbitor augustus -killed by Svadek

lyzolba - felt radkos pain from his fight and passed out and was then eaten by her followers

radkos- he destoryed project kraj and fell back into hibernation-so he is still alive

The chorus broke apart due to Savra and the gruul had no guild or true leader.

So the guilds are disbanded...what is the new story if only a handful of the leaders are still alive? Any ideas, guesses, or wild ramblings? And is the two-color theme going to continue?

i assume that they are continuing the two color theme since they printed the new two colored legends in avacyn restored.

I think they'll have to do something multi-coloured. It's been three whole blocks since we've had a true multi-colour block. Since Zendikar, only 23 multi-coloured cards have been printed, excluding the new Commanders like Ghave or Riku.

If I had to guess, it will be like artifacts in Scars block, in the sense that multi-colour will still be important, but it won't clearly define the block. That would appease all the fans of Ravnica, and would fit in with the current top-down design model.

jace has been hiding out with niv mizzet and the rest of the izzet gang, which means that he will probably come out as a red blue planeswalker and im hoping that his +1 is niv mizzets ability (draw a card and deal 1 damage) which would be broken, or if his ultimate gave an emblem which was niv mizzets ability (whenever you draw a card deal one damage to target opponent) which would probably be less broken but whatever

Or maybe they'll tell jace beleren to go get bent and let a certain R/U dragon to take the spotlight for a while...you know... a dragon who is awesome...because he's a dragon and not a gay human mage...just sayin....maybe...ya know...
