Greetings,

I am looking for a few smart and friendly moderators to help patrol the site.  As a moderator, your duties will be to keep the forums positive and to limit abusive posts.  You will also be expected to welcome new members and to generally encourage helpful behavior between members.

The current moderator system is limited, but your powers and abilities will be custom crafted to your suggestions as you spend more time moderating the site.

If you are interested, or you would like to suggest a fellow member who you think would do a great job moderating, please post here.

I look forward to hearing from you!

Gericult should defineatly be a moderator, he tends to be the most mature and knowledgeable of the site, and has been here a very long time.  I also think either Twogun, Turbine, or myself should be a moderator, as we all have been on this site for a very long time and make up a large portion of site.

honestly gericault, twogunkid, and lin sivvi all seem to be reasonable/logical choices, if been wondering for a while if this site actually had a moderator . . .

Allow me if I may for one moment to be serious...

I like this website very much. As a community it's not bad...maybe a little rough around the edges, but not bad. At one point it seemed very very negative (During a series of combos where insults were thrown around, and frankly left a bad taste in my mouth.) I really do like this little site and don't wanna see it fall into a loop of negative posts where all people do is flame each other. So it's for that reason and that reason alone that I ask if I may apply for being a moderator on this website.

And on a side note if not me then definitely twogunkid and gericault (At least then I'd know somebody would be trying to keep us together as a community and not just trying to ban everybody who throws an insult.)

moderators are not the answer.....its just as easy to let the abusers loose interest and go away....its not like you can really be that upset if someone online with a picture disses you....who are they?...it dont matter.... they dont know you...so someone keeps posting garbage....let them....whats the harm...we are here for the magic....we stay for the arguments and toying with others....its a side theme....let it be what it is...and get a grip....after all its only typed letters on a screen...it only means something if you let it....WE DO NOT NEED THE POSTING POLICE!...

I would volunteer myself, but I only tend to be active when a new set comes out.

However, if there is ever a 'rules advisor' type post I will put myself up for that, my official DCI rules advisor status just came through :)

I think Geri, Two-Gun, Lin, are great choices.

I think Scotty would be good muscle to add to particularly flagrant instigators (plus he's cool).

Each turn, your opponent must attack with the Jackal Pup, which is unblockable because you control a plains, and target the Mossdog with Jackal Pup ability, giving Mossdog a +1/+1 counter! When Mossdog is at least 20/20, take a turn to play Obelisk of Undoing (the game's most broken bounce) and bounce Muzzle! Afterwards, it is time to play the game-winner, Great Wall! Next turn, your opponent must attack into your Mossdog, which can now block it due to the all-powerful Great Wall, killing your opponent with Jackal Pup ability!

The reason you can't edit in chrome is because chrome is crap (really it is, but hopefully it will get better) complain to google not here.

Forum signitures would be nice, but also kind of annoying

Comment posting works in Chrome, just without html formatting.

This is actually more to do with the wysywyg editor script being badly written than it is to do with Chrome itself, there are plenty of other scripts which support it. TinyMCE for one.

The coding isn't really bad, you know because IE can run it, just Chrome doesn't have much work put into it as any other browser.

It's more an indicator of it being written to compensate for IE's many, many flaws.

Chrome only has had less work done on it by virtue of being the most recent 'major' browser. At least it's quality work unlike the turgid bloat that is IE.

In my opinion, other good things that could be possible to do in this site is a "search combo". Instead of search something only with the name of a card, I think if some new "filters" became added to the searchs... that could helps. NEW FILTERS:
1 - In the moment of post something, an add of a filter to identify if something is a combo, synergy, deck, questions, others.
2 - After classified what is the type of the post, if is a combo or synergy, classify what this combination do: damage, mana, tokens, flying, destroy and so on, and define if is limited or infinite.
3 - A simple filter with the colors of the combination/decks.
Im not ordering this XP, but I think that simple things like this would be a great upgrade in this site, just my opinion... :)

I agree with tort that there should be a box or something that you can check to say whether the combo is infinite!

(Maybe we should have a seperate thread for suggestions of things to add to the site?! It seems like this thread has gone off topic! (We're so good at changing topics!))

I think signatures are annoying as well.  and when it comes to more search parameters, I would say, maybe colors or something only.  The site is really fine as it is, and it would be a lot of work to label everything already posted.  unless u would want to start all over. 

there is a website that separates it's combos like that, but i can't remember what it is right now.

@Mechanist: Technically Sync never instituted a voting system...so to be honest it's kinda pointless...for that matter sync could pick someone who hasn't even applied to be a moderator...or choose someone at random for all we know...

Just setting the record straight...democracy doesn't really exist unless the powers to be acknowledge it...Think of the site structure in a metaphorical way...

Actually, Sync, if you get back, I'd like to apply for a mod position, to be active during your downtime.

I'm a neurobiologist with a familiarity with psychology, and an avid Magic player since Ice Age. I have some experience with coding, but a lot of experience on humans and their social capacities.

If entrusted with a mod slot, I would probably give people a little more leeway to speak their minds and be critical of one another here, so long as the discussions are on topic - I really do feel that critical discussion is a boon for the community - but I've also moderated for two other websites, and I can provide references as to verify how my approach to modding actually improved those sites. I'd also allow a little leeway for casual conversation - if the traffic here so far is any indication, this forum dries up when people aren't allowed to have a little fun. I like to foster a sense of community, and I know how to work around people who'd rather undo that.

For example, Knarf has caught some negative attention, lately, and has been threatening to destroy this forum, because people haven't been showing him enough respect (he's even gone as far as issuing a manifesto on how unless everyone on the site functions how he wants, he's going to destroy this website). Despite this, I've been encouraging newbies to submit original content, and to share their minds - and some have stuck around, and become new regulars because of it. We've managed to get a lot of great combos from these new users, including some fantastic ideas for Gatecrash during the prerelease weekend. 

Despite Knarf's attempts to wreck up the place, we have more users, posting more often, providing better content. And that's what I'd offer you, if given the chance. More, and better.

Any (re)-application for the moderator job? Non-IT-girls are preferred.
Don't worry, I'm not so arrogant like a dude we all know to apply for this function cause I'm also prejudiced.
I hope this will help to get rid of some nasty spam we had in the past, but hopefully you all are aware of the source of most of the conflicts.
No more to say, just post if you would do the moderator job honestly.

Shit, all this shit managed to scare away TwoGun and Gericault, it seems.

Considering that this started after Academic joined, I am definitely against her being a moderator. Admins can't be overly opinionated and biased as she is.

Since I am on the same page as a lot of people here, Academic would actually be a good choice for the job. Knarf, when will you learn? You can't insult me. It's as easy as that. Oh, Kefka has restarted an approach to shine strong and self-asured. It was a fail.
Academic rememberred an alias of EntropySpawn, how impressive.
Academic has more opponents and skeletons in IT's closet than Turbine. So I'm not afraid of the expected vote.

I would like to apply for the "background dude who updates the card database and has no forum power" position. I would also like to vote for Academic and Geri as moderators (the list would be longer but they are the only ones interested that are actually active). So yeah. I just want to upload pictures and make people happy. Forum moderating is something I can do but would prefer to keep my nose out of since I have an itchy trigger finger.
