This is a stall deck using defenders with Axebane for mana and Doorkeeper for additional mill. It has counter spells and creature control to survive. Phenax is the win condition.

I am open to any valid criticism.

Mine is simple curiosity: why you did not make it infinite with Freed from the real enchanting the Axebane Guardian?

Tree of redemption is not standard

Murmuring Phantasm is a good replacement that fits your theme, though I would go with voyaging satyr or elvish mystic for additional mana early

bile blight is a good card but right now (though could change)tokens are not heavily played other than master of waves or pack rats, both of which can be dealt with ultimate price faster than you finding the double black since your only splashing for it. or you could add overgrown tomb in place of your forests and/or temple of deceit for you islands which will make the double black easier to get without hindering your other colors

I would replace dimir charm with card draw. your whole deck revolves around phenax so you will want to find him as fast as possible. Read the bones is great for this since you can dig 4 cards at a time though pilfered plans can draw 2 while milling

While I understand not cutting down the defenders cyclonic rift would prvide some early protections and removal later in the game

Read the Bones seems like a valuable addition. I haven't played in Standard since Scars of Mirrodin, so I still don't know what decks are in the meta and I haven't memorized all of the cards in Standard yet. Elvish Mystic also seems pretty great for churning out the 3 cost defenders on turn 2. I'm a little afraid that I might have too much mana with nothing to spend it on though.

I can see tokens becoming more popular because Brimaz is out now, but Ultimate Price would deal with him too.

Cyclonic Rift would be incredibly helpful and I definitely want to include that somewhere.

The other card that I was thinking of adding was Triton Tactics. Do you have any thoughts on that?

I will rework my deck list when I get home later tonight.

Its not a defender, per se, but Consuming Aberration is still standard until next year, and has P/T equal to the number of cards in their graveyard, plus a triggered mill effect.

Its off color (not that that really matters with Axebane Guardian), but Dragonshift would make a nice surprise win-con, if you can't get Phenax in time. Turn all those defenders into flying dragons and swing for the win.
