No, hive mind copies gather so what will happen is you play phage, your opponents gather will trigger telling it to come in under your control, since phage is enter play under your oppoenets control, your gather triggers putting phage back under your control.  so you get phage.

EDIT:  Trigger is a bad choice of words since it is a replacement affect

How about if i make his gather specimen "can't be countered by spells or abilities" then counterspell my Gather Specimens?

now if you want it to work it gets alittle more costly but this is an option

with hivemind in play, play phage, while its on the stack, cast gather, hive mind triggers and opponet gets copy of gather, your opponents copy resolves, at this point play DISPEL targeting your gather, hive mind triggers, play STIFLE targeting hive minds ability, hive mind triggers again but the only target for your opponents copy is the dispeal trigger, any way you cut it they do not get a copy of dispel so your gather is counter, phage resolves under your opponents control

Yup, someday. MtG Man will figure something out. or one of those hard hitting combo players. I will start my quest to discover a Phage the untouchable combo. who will join me? Well of course no one...
