attach Basilisk Collar to Ashling to give it deathtouch and lifelink. Add something like Odric, Lunarch Marshal to keep your own creatures as well, or Scythe of the Wretched to gain control of all creatures under Ashling's spell.

I prefer the Scythe, it keeps the Ashling and if there are some creatures with etb abilities...!-)
