This is one of the weirdest ways I ever won in a game. The idea behind it came from the quote, and the steps are simple: equip deathrender on the cockroach with the altar out, sack the roach, and since it returns to hand, recast it with deathrender. All that's left to do is listen to your opponent's reactions as they die by the roach.

Aluren would be a Substitution for Deathrender.

It would be a good one at that, but was trying to keep it one color for a mono black edh deck that I run. And the cards listed in the combo have more than just that use, but its something I brewed up on the spot when a friend and I threw together an ob nixilis deck (not the newest one)
