If you decide to give your hordes to Opponent, then he will get an untapped hordes no matter if you pay the upkeep or not.
Your Opponent won't lose a land due to not payed upkeep since the "beginning of upkeep" Trigger is already gone when he got control of the hordes.

So just use armageddon and hordes with mana critters to Keep control about opponents lands.

Or use Herald of Leshrac with the suit. Cumulative upkeep of taking lands from opponents, and we've established in other combos if you can't or don't pay a CU with a suited creature, it doesn't die.
