No longer works, thanks to errata:


W, Pay 1 life: Prevent the next 2 damage that would be dealt to target creature this turn.

U: Prevent the next 1 damage that would be dealt to target Cleric or Wizard creature this turn.

B, Put a -1/-1 counter on a creature you control: Prevent the next 2 damage that would be dealt to target player this turn.


Now that the -1/-1 counter is part of the cost, Doubling Season won't double it, in much the same way it doesn't double plus abilities on planeswalkers (those pluses are the cost of the ability, rather than the ability itself).

Okay, Workaround:
Grim Poppet
I put 1 Counter as Mage's cost on the poppet, then I remove 1 Counter from the poppet and put 2 Counter as effect on the Morselhorder.
