Actually 1 blue will do 24

tap kahamal to ping for 3, 1st violence turns it into 6, second violence turns it into 12 damage, untap with freed, do 12 more, for 24 total off of pinging.  Off course it will do more it you attack then ping

Personaly i prefer using anthem of rakdos. It does require hellbent, but it makes only sources i control. That keep it form stabbing me in the back, accept for it's attack effect, but i have a combo up that takes advantage of that.

Furnace of Rath is for all damage which also helps your opponent. Gratuitous Violence only works for your stuff.
