We have some EDH deck types that abuse activated abilities.
Place Isochron with "shields of Velis vel"
Have Brutal Suppression and Unwinding clock in play.
Activate Isochron to have your opponents abilities cost them dearly.

If you activate the Isochron in response to their ability, the cost has already been paid so they won't have to sacrifice for it, and they can respond to the activation with more abilities.

Even if you use it during their upkeep to try to minimize what they can do, they can still respond and dodge the extra cost.

If you could replace the isochron with a more permanent mass type change, it would be more effective.

Linvala does stop all them cold. I was trying to make a combo with Brutal suppression, since there was only one other.

Make them guess. Don't play the usual combos!
