How Thrommy works is, however many creatures you feed him as he enters, that is what his devour score is equal to. So if you feed him four creatures, it equals devour 4, counts the four creatures fed, and gives him sixteen counters on entry.

The combo functions as a loop. Cast Thromok, feeding him however many creatures you want to. He in turn enters with that number squared as his power. Then you sacrifice him to the wolves, and return him to the field, feeding the wolves back to him to make him grow ridiculously each turn. Example; You feed Thromok five creatures as he enters the first time, and he lands as a 25/25, then feed him all the wolf tokens he makes each turn:

End of turn 1: 625/625
End of Turn 2: 390,625 / 390,625
End of Turn 3: 152,587,890,625 / 152,587,890,625
End of Turn 4: 23,283,064,365,386,962,890,625 / 23,283,064,365,386,962,890,625

You are on your own to figure out what 23 sextillion squared is for how big he gets on turn 5.

I'm not seeing it. The way I'm reading it, if you sac four creatures, it comes in as a 4/4. Once you sac him, you get 4 2/2's, which in turn get sac'd to him, again making him a 4/4. I could see it if doubling season were out, but not otherwise. What am I missing here?

He'll get 16 counters when he eats 4 creatures. X = 4, so he gets 4 counters per creature... then you sac him for 16 2/2's. when he eats those he'll get 16 counters per creature eaten so it'll be 16 x 16... whatever that is... I only have 20 fingers and toes, and counting the "other" appendage, I can only count to 21...

I think Purphoros would end it too quickly. If you have him out at the start of the combo, its pretty much game over from the first wolf-feeding, since the 25 wolf tokens hit together.

Besides, imagine your opponent's face as they try to even comprehend the numbers you are generating. This, at its core, is a johnny combo. Its not about winning, its about achieving something so over the top it seems impossible.

If you added Mana Echoes could this be infinite in one turn?

[EDIT] Ahh, never mind I just realized how you were sac'ing Thomok at the end of each turn.

I have a question related to timing.
At the beginning of end step the trigger of Feed the Pack occurs. Then I decide whether to sac a creature or not. If I do, the effect of putting [amount of saced creature's thoughness] tokens into play goes on the stack. At the same time the Trigger of Nim Deathmantle is there, now I have to decide whether to pay 4 for the Deathmantle or not. If I pay, the effect of returning the saced Thromok is put on the stack above the effect of putting the Tokens into Play.
All Players pass.
Resolving effects: The Thromok is returned to the battlefield with the deathmantle attached triggering the Devour ability, but there are no Tokens to sacrifice since that effect is still on the stack.
Am I right or did I misunderstand stacking effects?

There is no separate effect for the sacrifice and the tokens being made, its all one ability.

From there, the Deathmantle trigger stacks, but the sacrifice+tokens trigger has already resolved.

Also, technically, devour is not a triggered ability (this matters because of cards like Stifle that could counter it, if it was).

you guys are forgetting the biggest pieces of this combo(i run this in my edh) add in doubling season(double tokens and counters placed on thromok) and parallel lives(again double tokens)

Actually, I ignored them as basically irrelevant here. The way these numbers escalate, they are unnecessary to this combo. For an edh deck arranged around this theme, they're great of course.

As a side note, this setup can also work to a lesser extent with Ulasht the Hate Seed. It doesn't square the amount each turn, but it will get bigger allowing for a growing army of tokens (which you get to keep using it).

Vicious Shadows could also be sadistic, with all the creatures dying. Hit an opponent for their hand size 390,000 times on turn 3 of the combo?
