The island is Sundial of the Infinite.
Throw down the chasm, keep ending your turn with the sundial before the cumulative upkeep resolves and hope your opponent has no land or artifact destruction. Then you wait for him to deck himself. Maybe get a snack or something.
Alternatively, throw Havoc Festival in there to speed things up a lot or add Forsaken Wastes to speed things up a little.

If your opponent runs Mill or Altwin, he'll laugh at you as you do nothing to stop him.

Yes, you are correct. Sometimes combos can be worked around. In this case though, you'd likely not even notice losing, having decided to take a nap some dozen turns ago.
