Steam Vines usually is offset by the controller not tapping it. With Rishadan Port, you can force him to tap the card and each turn, deal 1 damage and destroy a land.

Only problem is your opponent can choose to put Steam Vines on one of your lands.

which will save 1 land, but there is that white card which makes your lands indestructable

3rd ability of Elspeth makes your lands indestructible. Terra Eternal doesn't work cause you want to destroy opp's lands.  Is there another white card for all lands you control?
I still prefer my suggestion since it keeps it mono red.

was thinking of terra, remembered it as you control not all. and there is nothing wrong with darksteel, just if you have 5 lands out, there are 4 others that can receive the vines. something like elspeths 3rd increases the value tremendously even if it does mean splashing a color

I hate to say it, but making your lands indestructible doesn't help, as Steam Vines can still be attached to them. Spiritual Asylum however does protect your lands.

yes it does get attached but steam vines text says "destroy it".  A land that is indestructible can't be destroyed so that part will be skipped and the rest of the card will resolve, allowing you to move the aura elsewhere.
Spiritual Asylum will not protect your lands.  Even though your lands have shroud, like clone, steam vines does not target anything.  So it gets around shroud and hexproof

Actually, the Darksteel Garrison works perfectly. Its basically equipment for lands. Tap their land, they Steam Vine one of yours, you move the Garrison to it, and tap it. The Steam Vine doesn't say to reattach it if the land is actually destroyed, just when its tapped. So you take your damage and move it back to their side of the table. The older enchantment Kudzu can fill some extra slots for this setup too.
