With Mana Maze and the servant, the curse is redundant, since they already won't be able to cast a second spell each turn anyway.

That said, Mana Maze does say THIS TURN, so all an opponent has to do is wait until the next turn to cast whatever they are shooting for.

simply have a spell with buyback paid that is a instant and it locks opponents out of playing anything

If you use a buyback instant, you don't need the curse.

A good addition to Mana Maze and Painter's Servant would be Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir and Glitterfang. Stops the opponent from ever casting spells, keeps the combo two colors, only requires one mana on their turn, and teferi's inherent ability stops them from responding to anything.

Or, instead of Glitterfang, use something like Trusted Advisor to keep it mono blue. Then you could throw in something like Thalakos Seer to draw extra cards on your turn, or something like Shield Sphere to drop the cost per turn down to nothing.
