its more like a panoptic mirror...
use a rewind as the exiled card
living though, give it hexproof and indestructibility, and use with arcane laboratory and meliera sylvok outcast and you have a lock-down that can not be removed

It takes Time Elemental and Ertai, Wizard Adept, and basically throws both of them out the window. What is worse is that it allows you to play off-color spells, which means you could run monoblue with Path to Exile.

On a side note: Path of Exile imprinted on Elite Arcanist combined with Living Plane and Intruder Alarm makes for a sick lockdown. If you wanted to keep the green out you could swap in Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth and Kormus Bell.

It says "card" not spell. This makes me believe that it would allow you to cast one or the other. You would be unable to fuse the spells since they are not cast from your hand.

Ah that makes sense. I always forget though, what's the CMC of the split cards? I've read somewhere that the CMC of the split cards is equal to the total mana symbols on the card, so let's say Armed//Dangerous has a total CMC of 6. If I were to only cast one half of the card with Arcanist, would I still need to pay the full 6? Or can I just pay for one half??

yes, you would have to pay the full cost of both spells added together so im assuming you would be casting the copies already fused together and for an exspensive cost
