Based on a combo submitted by Bloodwi11 at http://www.mtgcombos.com/view.php?fid=2&tid=2087
This is a fun lockdown to enable other effect you may want, add Teferi, Mage of Zhalfir for some real fun ;)
Tanglewire will keep work well in tapping down your opponent's cards.  During your upkeep, with the tanglewire triggers on the stack, float 3 mana.  Tanglewire will tap down your permanents giving you a fun use for Gilder Bairn.  If you resolve them in the following order, things can get really ugly:
Untap
Trigger to remove counter on the stack with trigger to tap your permanents on top of it
float 3 mana including a blue and/or green
Trigger to tap your permanents resolves, use it to tap gilder bairn, trigger to remove counter on the stack
Use Gilder Bairn's ability to double the counters on Tanglewire untapping him
trigger to remove a counter resolves
If you started with 4 counters on the Tanglewire you'll end up with 7 counters on it and an untapped Gilder Bairn that can attack into the tapped blockers on your opponents board...and then use his ability again to bring you to 14 tanglewire counters... after 1 turn.  It stays good if you use it in conjunction with Planeswalkers as they love having extra loyalty counters.
Alchemist's Refuge is another nice card as you can use it to flash in cards while the Tanglewire triggers are on the stack.  Being in a combination of blue and green you can use Crop Rotation and Harrow to ramp/thin your deck and Force of Will, Disrupting Shoal, Foil, and Daze to protect your Gilder Bairn.

If that's not your style you can play the Black Vise/Underworld Dreams/Teferi's Puzzlebox version and power that all out with Everflowing Chalice, Pentad Prism, and Mana Batteries.

Soft locks are the best locks!

Yes, I had to play against such a combo in my kittchen-table-group several times. I was no pleasure...
