Aboshan, Cephalid Emperor is in place of your emperor  in an emperor game

Emperor steals creature and donates it to general and repeats until other side rage quits

Ok, first off, there is no combo here. These cards do not interact with each other or help each other in any way at all.

The shackles can be left tapped by its controller on its own and doesn't require a tapped creature to target. Further, tapping the shackles with Aboshan won't work as some cheap method of using it to steal a creature since you arent tapping it as the cost of its ability.

Aboshan cannot give take control OR give control of a creature, at all, so he is irrelevant to whatever you were thinking of doing.

Based on what you said, it seems like you were talking about the Emperor Magic format, but you don't give control of creatures there. You can reposition your creatures to help your teammates, but it stays your creature tapping, attacking, and pretty much doing everything as any other creature you control would.

Wow either someone takes things way too literally or they have a stick up their ass. Seems our play group has slightly different take on the rules regarding Emperor

804. Deploy Creatures Option

804.1. The Emperor variant always uses the deploy creatures option, and it can be used in other variants that allow players to compete in teams. Multiplayer formats in which players compete as individuals usually don’t use this option.

804.2. Each creature has the ability “{T}: Target teammate gains control of this creature. Activate this ability only any time you could cast a sorcery.”

This is straight from the comphrensive rule book. Version 20130201. This year.

Since the emperor would no longer control the creature, it would be safe to untap the Vedalken Shackles once you no longer controlled the creature.

I stand corrected on the format bit then. I only did a quick search and got the rough draft on the format. I didn't check the rulebooks for clarification.
