with all in play and blue mana battery with 2+ charges:
tap niv, blue mana battery for 3+ blue mana, 2 to keys, 1 to minamo for untap. Proliferate on the battery to keep going for loop

I, too, am unable to see how this works. Contagion will leech 4 counters off of the Battery, only to add two more. How are you untapping the Voltaic Keys/your land?

If you have enough artifact cards in your hand, you could use Staff of Dominion and Metal worker to create infinite mana, then use that infinite mana and SoD+Niv-Mizzet for infinite Damage/Draw.

Were you perhaps thinking of Gilder Bairn instead of Contagion Engine?
