use swamp, dark ritual, dark ritual, then funeral charm (discard zirilan), use corpse dance (with buyback) on zirilan use lotus petal, nicol bolas, attack with bolas to drop opponents hand regardless of hand size

So this nets all 7 cards in your hand to get rid of your opponent's hand and deal 7 damage.  Pretty much just sets the game to 'we each discard our hands and you start with 13 life'.  As a change you can drop the red dragon as you can just use the corpse dance to put the Nicol Bolas directly into play.

actually, zirilian fetches nicol bolas from your deck... less cards if you got bolas in your hand (remove the lotus petal and zirilan of the claw)

nicol bolas can be replaced if you like with your fav critter, but none has card drop better than nicol bolas .... or use to get griselbrand to do 7 damage to an opponent, then you gain 7 life, and then you can turn around and draw 7 cards with that spare 7 life, or spend an additional 7 life to get 14 cards above what you started with... then pick and choose what you discard (maybe something with a grave ability or graveyard recursion)

the possibilities are endless :)

Your combo doesn't work as described. The Zirilan needs rr1 for activation. Even in 1st round you do not drop a swamp and a mountain.
The charme, corpse dance with buyback and the zirilan's activation requires 9 mana total (bbrr5). 2 dark rituals, swamp and petal only provide bbbbbr total (even without buyback still 7 mana required).
So forget about the Zirilan and discard the Nicol. Also Zirilan can't find demon cards, only dragons.

So t1: drop swamp, cast dark ritual, drop petal, sac petal for b, cast funeral charm on the big creature of your choice in hand and cast corpse dance without buyback. This is a 6 card combo including 1 swamp in mono black. Add second dark ritual for corpse dance with buyback. Replace the creature, corpse dance and petal by animate dead and a haste creature to make it 5 cards and the creature stays in play.

ok, so u need 2 lotus petals or a mountain or a mox ruby or.... the point here is that it is possible, and also... this is meant to inspire people to make new combos with it... the buyback part if you use it... is only if you arent going to be using the zirilan ability, i was wording it the way i did so that people would use parts of what i put out there to make truly killer combos... not to be shot down by someone being cynical

That's thing, we are tweaking it to have less kinks.

Swamp
Dark Ritual
Entomb
Goryo's Vengeance

This is a monoblack way for you to get Nicol Bolas to your graveyard and swing with him on your first turn. All one color, only four cards. Group effort. Rejoice.

Also posted multiple ways by Ephemerance.

i have a casual nicol bolas deck that has 12 ways to get bolas on the field (8 of those are useable turn 1 though i usually wait till turn 3 so i can pay upkeep, unless it exiles)

i only put this one out there... and in this format to see how many of those 12 ways people could discover

for example, if bolas in hand

turn 1:

swamp, dark ritual,
(now have 3 black mana) <-- use a 2nd dark ritual as needed

(if bolas is in hand, choose one) funeral charm (or use blackmail) <--- discard nicol bolas(creature version)

(if bolas in library, choose one)) entomb, demonic tutor, buried alive
(now have 2 black mana)
___

for those one time deals where you dont plan to keep bolas in play after that turn (choose one of these)

goryeos vengeance, shallow grave
____

for those times that you plan to keep bolas in play (and paying upkeep)

use animate dead, life/death, exhume, reanimate, recurring nightmare, soul exchange or voctimize (play a 0 mana creature such as memnite to sac for it), stitch together (if you have 7 or more cards in the grave... later in the game), zombify, all halows eve (late in the game), twilight's call (late in the game), cauldron dance, living death, living end

any card that gives bolas the ability to tap to deal 1 damage (or more) is brutal for the opponent, unless they have shroud or hexproof, as it can possibly make them lose their cards from draw step for the rest of the game (except instants)

I don't get why won't you just "entomb" bolas then "exhume" him using a "dark ritual"..

The point was that all is done in turn 1. So the Bolas needs haste. With exhume he will see the upkeep of turn 2 and die due to unpaid upkeep cost.
See postings of Atogatog and Boyachi above for haste Bolas.
