Ali from Cairo says your life total can't go below 1. Lich says your life total is 0, Ali say "That's a bad Lich! We're going to have 1 life!" and Near Death Experience says I win. YAY!

Now that I look at it...this might not work...Ali From Cairo just prevents any damage that would reduce your life below 1. Hmm...

i think this work, because the lich reduce your life total to 0. Ali sais it cant go lower than 1. if you manage to play the enchant ... it a win !


But its very hard to play this..... 3 white, 4 black and 2 red

this combo does not work at all. See the rules of the Ali card.

10/4/2004: This effect does not apply to effects which reduce your life without doing damage.

10/4/2004: This effect does not prevent damage, it prevents the damage from turning into loss of life. So the full damage is dealt (and abilities that trigger on damage being dealt still trigger), but the full loss of life is not applied.

So, you have 0 life, damage done to you is reduced to 0 but you still have to sacrifice that many permanents and you never will get the near death experience...

Get yourself to 1 life, use Plantinum Emperium. Life total can't change. Lich for shits and giggles and draw instead of wasted gain life effects. Risky though.

Lich would still make you sac permanents. Platinum Emperion blocks loss of life, not damage.

It prevents your life total from changing. Since there would be no reduction in life (damage causes loss of life), Lich is just chilling there.

This is important because gaining and lossing life is what changes your life total. The damage still happens in this case even though the loss of life is negated.

I know exactly how this worked. I ran a Worship deck causally during the Invasion cycle. Stormscape Apprentice was used to kill me in several occasions. Loss of life DOES NOT equal damage. Damage makes loss of life occur.

Perfect scenario for you: you are running a Circle of Protection:Black. Your opponent casts Bump in the Night. You lose three life. It doesn't matter how many times you activate your CoP.
