Not really a combo., but I think it would be fun synergy.

Put a Splinter Twin on some big non-legendary creature, then use Populate with Growing Ranks or Trostani, Selesnya's Voice... something. You get a hastey token that you can keep... I hope...

My understanding is that the populated token would stay. If splinter twin gave the token it created text that said "exile at end of turn" then the copy that you populated with would also be exiled.

You keep the token. One "fun" thing people are doing in standard is pairing the instant populate mechanics (like Rootborn Defenses) with the oh-so-pleasant Geist of Saint Traft, to actually keep an angel each turn. It's just one more thing that UW control doesn't need.

Right. The way I'm reading it: Splinter Twin says to exile the token it created. So, if you make a token from the token, I would think it stays.

And that Geist angel token thing is nasty haha

Correct, the tokens would stay.  Tokens created by an effect that says to exile/sac them later are the ones that are removed.  Don't confuse this with tokens created through effects like Parallel lives because the Lives doesn't actually create the tokens it just changes how many the original effect creates.
