You need two other artifacts. The Wellsprings are decent choices because they can generate card advantage, plus Mycosynth Wellspring helps fix your mana.

Get Xenograft out and choose Human. With Metalcraft, equip Avacyn's Collar to the Mortarpod Germ for the low cost of 0 mana. Sac the Germ to ping your opponent for 1. The Collar's ability will trigger, creating a new Spirit token which is also Human. Attach both the Collar and Mortarpod to the new token. Sacrifice the token to ping your opponent, and repeat until they are dead!

It's still Standard legal! I saw someone play a deck built around this combo. They didn't use Xenograft, but instead used Lingering Souls and Gather The Townsfolk to generate all the creatures they need for the sacrifices.

people still play extended. where is this and why do they torment themselves

This combo would be great to play in Modern with the artifact lands helping out with Metalcraft, but all the coloured ones, Ancient Den et al. are banned in that format. Probably with good reason.
