This is pretty bad ass. Have Academy Rector out.. then on opponents end step.. Entwine Plunge into Darkness to sacrifice Academy Rector and summon Near-Death Experience, Then pay all your life -1 from Plunge's second ability and voila :)
Hope you like

You might need Angel's grace as-well.

What about the life gain from Plunge into Darkness?

Hence the Angel's Grace or you can just have near-death out and use plunge into darknes's second ability.. on opponents end step..

Yeah, you dump all your life into the 2nd ability of Plunge. I used to play with Plunge a lot. But I would definitely run 4 Angel's Grace to insure that you run into one from your Plunge-dump. Wouldn't be a bad idea to run some protection for the enchantment too. Maybe....Greater Auramancy.  Good combo......though I'm personally not fond of Near-Death Experiences myself.....too stressful....lol.

I'm not so sure about this one. Since you can't pay life you don't have, you can't pay to a negative number so the life gain balances out. You'd have to play 2 of the plunges or another sac outlet. One to sac the rector and then a plunge to dump your life into. the concept is sound though.

No, you're missing something. Plunge has 2 abilities, which you can pay the entwine cost to play BOTH abilities for 1BB. You sac the Rector to the first ability, then you pay any amount of life.......not just life gained from the Plunge.

So let's say you had 13 life as you cast Plunge. You gain 3 for the Rector, giving you a total of 16. Then you can pay 15 life to search 15 cards to fetch your Angel's Grace.

And for those who are questioning if you can choose an X value higher than your life while the spell's on the stack, you don't choose the value for X in this case until during the resolution.

107.3e Sometimes X appears in the text of a spell or ability but not in a mana cost, alternative cost, additional cost, or activation cost. If the value of X isn't defined, the controller of the spell or ability chooses the value of X at the appropriate time (either as it's put on the stack or as it resolves).

It will be perfectly reasonable to entwine the spell and as it resolves sac the creature, gain the 3 life, pay (your life total-1) and look at that many cards from the top of your library to put one into your hand.  It will not be until you've done this that you or your opponent can respond to any of the actions taken during the resolution.

Also note the order of the trigger as well.  You must fully resolve the Entwined spell before you can search your library for the enchantment.  This means if you're tutoring through the top 15-20 cards and ALL of your Near Death Experiences are among them if you don't choose one to put into your hand they will all be exiled before you can search with the Rector.

Yeah, that's a good point.  Squillis, you're such a kill-joy, dude. lol   But you're right.....that's the risk you take with Plunge Into Darkness. Better run 4 copies of all.
