Sorin making their life total 10 isn't damage, it just changes their life. If you're saying to use his +1 5 times, go ahead but it's very slow.

but Sorin's Vengence deals 10 damage and you gain 10 life so this combo would work

Oh sorry. I red the explanation wrong. but using Sorin isn't that bad either.

You can use Chandra, the Firebrand's middle ability instead of Furnace. That would make the combo Standard legal. Actually, Sorin Markov, Curse of Bloodletting and Reverberate also work quite well with Sorin's Vengeance.
