In black/blue it could be. But there aren't any other black creatures with devour . . . mad props, great combo.

I feel like I need to mention Devouring Greed. I'm sure there is some way to use it with Endrek.

Nope, best Devour creatures to use with this are Predator Dragon
(Haste devouring 6 guys making him a 16/16 flying haste is too sweet), Skullmulcher
(an 8/8 for 5 mana that draws you 5 cards seems good too), and the new Thromak the Insatiable
with Devour X (Eats 5 guys and gets 5 +5/+5 counters making him a 25/25!!).  I think of these the Predator Dragon is the best bet, Great find with the Legend enabling these shenanigans!!!!

Predator Dragon would be the best though, because of the haste

Endrek is the card I like since got it in draft, but it have problem to control thrulls. Good way is use altar to sac them for manas to cast another creature; or many sac engines to do some adventage.
Predator Dragon is graet cause it has haste, however, there's a new dragon name Preyseizer Dragon is good too (if I can make it haste.)

Personally I think tar fiend is better then the dragon. Haste is easily gained through other means such as need for speed or mass hysteria. So while the tar fiend can gain the dragons edge, there is no way that the dragon can gain the level of disruption/card advantage tar fiend has.
