Play the pursuit of knowledge then brainstorm but put the counters on pursuit and draw seven.

Well you would only draw 5 really, because the first two cards you draw will be two that you put from your hand onto the top of your library. The only time you'll draw 7 whole new cards is if you played brainstorm when your hand was empty, so there were no cards to put onto your library.

Still, drawing five cards for five is a pretty good deal. Drawing seven for five is one hell of a deal.

You draw 7 cards.

Brainstorm resolves first.
So you draw no cards, put three study counters, and put no cards on your library.
Since brainstorm text says "draw three cards, THEN put.... if you draw no cards, you don't have to put cards on your library.

Then, when you want ( you have doubts? do it in your opponent's turn!  ) remove the study counters and draw seven.

No, you still have to put 2 back! 5 mana to draw seven isnt too bad though!

No. It's seven. You draw 3, skip them, get 3 counters, sac then draw 7.

While drawing the cards and putting 2 back is part of the same ability, the return 2 is not linked to the drawing.  so even if you replace the draw with adding the counter, you need to follow the rest of the ability which is to return the 2.  so while you will draw 7 only 5 of them are new
