Found this one while monitoring a Rules forum.

With Land Equilibrium out and maybe a mana producer or two, cast Armageddon.  Your opponent will have no land and won't be able to play a land because they'll have to sacrifice it before they could tap it for mana (This has been verified) as long as you don't play one.  Your Mana dorks will help to keep you afloat.

I'm interested in the detailed rules based explanation of " they'll have to sacrifice it before they could tap it for mana (This has been verified) "
My understanding was:
putting a land into play doesn't use the stack
putting the land into play triggers the equili ability which is put on the stack
after put on the stack the priority is going round in APNAP order
the active player may tap the land for mana before he passes priority and the sacrifice of the land has to be done during resolution

please correct me if I'm wrong

Current Oracle Wording for the card are "If an opponent who controls at least as many lands as you do would put a land onto the battlefield, that player instead puts that land onto the battlefield then sacrifices a land."

The Line "If <cause>, instead <effect>" creates a replacement effect that modifies how the land enters the battlefield.  The land must be sacrificed as a part of entering the battlefield so they must do so as a process of playing it so it must be dones before they can tap it for mana, even though tapping it doesn't use the stack.
