You have two options here:
1) Using Pulse of the Fields - With the Elf in play, Channel five life into five mana, use three of it to play Pulse. You'll get the Pulse back. Essentially you'll end up paying three life for four life, each time using that one life you gained to turn into mana. This generates infinite mana of Red and White, perfect for Fireball or some other spell of that nature.

2) Using Pulse of the Forge - Pay 18 life, turn it into 18 red mana, and cast Pulse of the Forge 5 times to finish off your opponent, each time it will bounce back to your hand.

Nice!  Mono green deck with white and red cards in it :).  A deck could include both of these and be set to combo out both ways.

@thefirewithin - You are legally able to target yourself, but your life is never greater than your life (Your life !> your life) so you you will not get to return it to your hand in that case.
