Equip Cackling Imp with Umbral Mantle. Tap Cackling Imp to reduce your opponent's life total by one, then untap it to give your Cackling Imp +2/+2 until end of turn. After you've tapped/untapped you Imp 6 times you opponents life will be down to 14 and you'll have yourself a 14/14 flyer. Attack!

nine mana is hard to come by. most of my games are won or lost by then. So probably not a one turn win, unless you had some really good mana excell

Viridian Joiner with Umbral Mantle is a much better combo. You can get it off by fourth turn and it will give you infinite mana and and infinitely sized Viridian Joiner.

Yup, i've been using umbral mantle and Viridian joiner since i discovered umbral mantle (Discovered from spoiler LOL, Already know the combo before Shadowmoor was released.)

so i pay 18 mana to kill my enemy vs. just playing 3 seething song with a meteor shower and a shock for 5 mana?

Blah is comparing paying 18 mana to win, to paying 5 mana for a bunch of Seething Songs to power out a Meteor Storm and a Shock.

What he doesn't realise is that this won't actually kill anyone from 20 life, so is pretty irrelevant.

Ya, uh, Meteor Shower is damn near the most useless burn spell in MTG...
