cast Daily Regimen on your Fertilid to keep him pumped with +1/+1 counters. weed out your deck of basic land in mere turns! Fertilid lets you spend 1G to search your library for a basic land card and put it into play tapped. just be sure to keep him pumped up. For more fun: idle thoughts in play lets you spend 2 colorless mana to draw a card when you have no cards in hand and/or (diviner's wand let's you spend 4 colorless to draw a card). play it right and you'll be exploding onto the battlefield, casting spells left and right to your opponent's dismay! just don't deck yourself!
