Continuosly sac finks to altar! The -1 gets cancelled by the +1, you get life and mana, JOR gets counters!

I like this.  Just hook a Vorrac Battlehorn onto the Ranger and you'll be all set.

You've just gotta love the union of the persist effect and JOR's advanced graft mechanic.

A cheap and mono-colored (yet less powerful) alternative is Simic Initiate equipped with Blade of the Bloodchief.

Maybe I'm missing something, but  I don't think this works.  Won't the finks still have the -1/-1 counter?

-1/-1 and +1/+1 counters negate each other, Hawkeye. Simple math.

Sorry, I didn't think it worked like that.  I figured it would just have both types of counters.  My bad.

Well, imagine it like this:

You've got a creature with two -1/-1 counters on it. You find a way to get two +1/+1 counters onto it. Now, instead of having all manners of counters on it, you basically think to yourself, "Hey... -2/-2 and +2/+2 equals 0/0; why not just take the counters off completely?"

And that's how Equestria was made the way it ended up being.
