A few spells say stack! Everything with split second, the reminder on time stop and sundial of the infinite, the errata on ertais meddling, kaerveks torch, and torrent of lava, and lightning storm!

Yeah, it's existed, but I thought that it was a term that Wizards only used in rulings, not on cards.

The stack as it currently exists came about with 6th edition.

As for the combo nowhere near breaking the game. Max doesn't interact with grips trigger. Can't choose something when a choice can't be made
