not epic, but helps use cards already in some decks. Use branchbender to make a land you control into an X/X creature (X is the number of elves you control). Play Mercy Killing targeting the land and you get elf token equal to it power (ie. the number of elves you control). It ends up with the same result of casting Elvish Promenade.

just make sure you swing with the land first, it'll force them to block and lose a creature, or try to cast removal. With the removal on the stack, there's less chance of being interupted in your casting of Mercy Killing.
