This is something I've been thinking of for a loooong time (ever since Followed Footsteps came out), and always want to try, but can never find a good way to play it through.

Step one: Play Opalescence
Step two: Play Doubling Season
Step three: Enchant the (living) doubling season with Followed Footsteps.
-- Next upkeep: Followed footsteps puts one copy of doubling season into play, which becomes two. There are now three Doubling Seasons in play.
-- Next upkeep: Followed Footsteps puts one copy of doubling season into play, which becomes six. There are now nine Doubling Seasons in play.
-- Next upkeep: ... becomes five hundred and twelve. ... Five hundred twenty-one...
-- Next: 6.8647976601306097149819007990814e+156 and 521 more Doubling Seasons.
-- etc. etc.

For added fun, Paradox Haze, which can give you bonus upkeep steps, Greater Auramancy, which gives other enchantments you control shroud, and Enduring Ideal, to let you search out the combo pieces with ease.

Damn that cleaver, i really like how all the cards in this combo are enchantments, making them much easier to find. though, doubling season is very expensive ($ wise)

Pretty expensive mana-wise, too, but doable (especially with Enduring Ideal and Paradox Haze).
As far as the fiscal expense goes... I don't expect anybody to ever make this combo; I just thought it was funny, and kind of brutal.

Aww man, you beat me to posting this combo. I still love the concept of it though :D

For even more hilarity, add Rite of Replication.

Your maths is off though:

'-- Next upkeep: Followed footsteps puts one copy of doubling season into play, which becomes two.
-- Next: 6.8647976601306097149819007990814e+156 and 521 more Doubling Seasons.'

First step is right, you get 2 copies (3 total)

Second step, you get 2^3 (2 x 2 x 2) copies, i.e. 8 (11 total)

Then you get 2^11 copies, or 2048 (2059 total)

Then you get 2^2059 copies, at this point my calculator gave up but it's a lot!

Thanks for the correction; don't really know what I was thinking when I posted the numbers.
