since all your permanents are legendary you can keep tapping and untapping the koto adding 1 colorless each time.

i probably misunderstood but the shaku's ability says to tap a untapped permanent, you cant add mana and use its ability at the same time. its one or the other.

No you can use both. They are seperate abilities. All is forgiven as my higher comprehension skills are lost to leftover turkey and black friday chaos.

Someone can explain this one to me? I'm not certain about this one:
The "Tap" and "Tap an untapped legendary permanent you control" are different costs, so how you can use both abilities at the same time in the Shaku? If i'm not wrong, that's the same thing of this one (but instead of "Tap", this is "Sacrifice"):

there is a blank line between the abilities. That makes them separate abilities. Also the cost for the ability is "tap a legendary permament". It doesn't have to be the honor worn shaku. So you tap another legend as the cost and then resolve the effect which is "untap honor worn shaku" so now you have an untapped mana artifact. I run one in my wizard edh deck since i run alot of legendary wizards. It basicly turns them into colorless elves. Also since honor worn shaku's second ability DOES NOT have the {t} symbol you can even tap thing that have summoning sickness.

Ps. Your technically not using them at the same time, your using them in response to each other as a fast effect. Each ability uses the stack. (except the mana ability)

Oh, I've readed wrong the combo, I was thinking that sr819 was trying to post it like an infinity combo, tapping and untapping the Shaku with both abilities, but he submitted only a way to you add a LIMITED amount of mana. Thanks rav.

Take a close look at the cards. The structure is the difference. Different abilities have a blank line in between them. Nim's Artifact ability is a diffeerent ability from its return ability. But all parts of the return ability resolve at the same time.

So the nim can not sac itself because it has to be in play when you activate the ability since that is all part of the same ability. But the honor worn shaku can tap and untap for as many legendary permanants you have in play. Other than itself ofcoarse.

EDIT: Well you could tap it to untap it with the leyline in play but you wouldn't get any mana for doing so; so that seens rather pointless.

@Rav
Youre actually wrong about the devourer! It can sacrifice itself! You just activate its ability and return it, then sacrifice it!

@torto
You could tap it and untap it infinitely, but then you dont get any mana, because you have to tap it to untap and cant use the other tap ability! This is just synergy, thats assuming you have other creatures out! It makes it so that all of your creatures can be tapped to untap the shaku and make more mana!
