I used to think that lightning bolt was the best player damager for a single mana.

As soon as I saw skred, I switch my creatureless red deck to snow covered mountains and never looked back.

Ah, but Skred does need some kind of damage reflector like Repricussion to damage player. LBolt damage may be capped, but needs no synergy for its effect.

Repercussion does the damage to the players = the damage done to the creatures. so thats 13 points to u PER creature u have out. Ohh and i get a discount on the price per creature in play. Add forbidden orchard to just be plain rude.

The problem with Blasphemous Act is its speed. True, with eight creatures out, I've won the game tapping just R, but do consider this: if they've popped out a 1/1 each of their turns, I should be dead by the time the eighth one hits play.
Turn 1: 1 creature
Turn2: 2 Creatures, 1 damage this turn, total damage 1
T3: 3Cs, 2 dam, td2
T4: 4Cs, 3 dam, td5
T5: 5Cs, 4 dam, td9
T6: 6Cs, 5 dam, td14
T7: 7Cs, 6 dam, td20
At which point Blasphemous Act would still cost 2R to play (since you'd want to play it turn before their seventh turn so as not to be dead)

The earliest kill that can be obtained alone with B.A. would be turn five assuming you let them have four creatures on their battlefield. My deck usually kills an opponent by then if not sooner without B.A.s. Giving the opponent that much board control is a gamble I need not take in a one on one.
That being said, I obviously give B.A. more credit if played in a multiplayer game, seeing as casting it turn four (yes I know it could be played sooner but one must wait for the repercussion) could eliminate all other opponents, but in duels skred doesn't allow the opponent the board control that B.A. relies on. The more the opponent has control of the game, the less you do, and that makes it harder to win.

I'm guessing you play a lot of duels. We rotate between duels, pentag, 2 headed giant and free for all; both in 60 card and edh. My decks need to be able to bounce back and forth. i wouldn't use B.a. in a duel but it rocks in the other formats enough for me to tolerate it in a duel.
